Gerard Daphnis

Gerard Daphnis is a husband of 28+ years, a father of five, and a former University of Miami Hurricanes football player. A four-year letterman from 1993–1996, Gerard played tight end for Miami. Today, he leads Canes4Life Athletic Alumni Group, a nonprofit organization dedicated to connecting former UM football players through communication, engagement, mentoring, and brotherhood.

Gerard is also a passionate advocate for organ donation and cancer awareness.

Years after his football career, Gerard experienced a life-threatening health crisis that left him dependent on dialysis and in need of a kidney transplant.

But an extraordinary act of brotherhood changed the course of his life.

In January 2019, his former teammate Jermaine Chambers donated a kidney, giving Gerard a second chance at a healthier life.

Gerard shares his journey to inspire others, raise awareness of organ donation, and educate people about the gift of life.
